As our faith in God is the motivation behind our involvement in this ministry and underpins all that we do, it is important that we state our beliefs.
We believe that the Bible is God's inspired and authoritative word, revealing that:
- Jesus Christ is God's son;
- people are created in God's image;
- God created us to have a relationship with Him for eternity
-
the sinful nature that all mankind has is an obstacle to this relationship, but God has made salvation possible through the death on the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ;
- repentance, faith, love and obedience are fitting responses to God's initiative of grace towards us;
- in responding in this manner, relationship with God can be restored;
- God desires all people to be saved and to know the truth;
- the Holy Spirit is our counselor, guide and equipper and
- the Holy Spirit’s power is demonstrated in and through us for the accomplishment of Christ's last commandment, "...Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation" (Mark 16:15; NIV).
The motivation behind what we do is that we believe John 3:16 is true for everybody and we want to share that with as many people as possible. And, we also want to see John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”, become a reality in the body of Christ.
The Cross Country team is made up of individuals from different denominational backgrounds and the ministry is run as an interdenominational ministry but we place high value on accountability and are therefore under the guidance of our local churches. We welcome anyone who shares this Christian faith to come on our expeditions.
