1. A Typical Day
We make full use of the day, up early for your personal quiet time, while enjoying a sunrise and a strong cuppa coffee. Followed by breakfast prepared by the team on duty. Then depending on the plan for the day:
During the Training Week we will be covering a range of topics such as HIV/AIDS awareness, How to Teach English, Xhosa lessons, Cross-Cultural Anthropology etc. This will also be a good bonding time and opportunity for you to explore the surrounding area.
On a Project Day, we will usually start with group worship and then get stuck into the specific work in the community we’re staying in. Our involvement can be as diverse as gardening and building, to playing soccer with the kids, teaching English or simply praying with a person with HIV/AIDS.
On a Rest Day, there will either be organized group activities or you will be free to partake in some insane, adrenaline-overdosed activity; soak up the sun, surf and sand; or watch the wildlife wallow at a water hole. Then, where possible, we will cap the evening off with a bonfire and worship.
Obviously, each day will be different and we always need to be prepared for the unexpected, so the more flexible one is the more rewarding it will be.
TRIP TIP: We will never expect you to do anything that you do not feel comfortable with. All we ask is that you will be prayerfully open to God stretching you and widening your horizons.
